Who can be the founder of a citizens association?
There should be minimum three founders to establish a citizens association. The founders can be natural persons and legal entities. At least one founder must be Serbian resident or the company that is registered in Serbia.
What are the ways to finance citizens association?
According to the law, an association as a non-profit organization can raise funds from membership fees, donations, grants, gifts, subsidies, sponsorships, etc. All forms of financing, as well as organization future activities, are defined in the Statute.
Is it necessary to prepare the Statute before starting the registration?
If you initiate the registration process with us, all legal documentation, including the Statute, is made by our legal team in accordance with applicable law. The objectives, bodies of the association and their competences are defined in cooperation with you. It is very important to draft an original Statute to ensure that the association operates in accordance with the law.
Is a citizens association tax exempt?
In accordance with the law, if the association has annual profit* up to 400 000 dinars, it is not subject to taxation. If this limit is exceeded during the year, the obligation is to pay income tax of 15% on the entire amount. *income - expenses = profit*
Does the citizens association have an activity code?
Associations are registered in a separate register with a specific code of activity. In the classification it is defined as the activity of other organizations on the basis of membership. However, if another activity code is registered beside this one, the citizens association loses its non-profit character and it is subject to taxation, the same as LTD.
Does a citizen association need to have an accountant?
Since a citizens association has the status of a legal entity, it has an obligation to keep financial records according to the law. It is recommended to hire licensed accountants who would take over the bookkeeping of the association in accordance with applicable regulations.
